Eligibility criteria of this scheme

  • The first and foremost eligibility criterion of availing this scheme is that you must a certified citizen of South Africa.
  • The combined annual household income of your family must not exceed R350000 per annum.
  • Another thing that you have to take care of is that you must be a SASSA (South Africa Social Security Agency) grant recipient.
  • You also have to make sure that you are registering for an undergraduate qualification at a public university for the first time or you must be registered under any of the TVET (Technical Vocational Education and Training) to get one of the National Certificate Vocational or the report 191 programs.
  • You must be applying for a study in any of the public universities or a TVET college for the sake of qualification.
  • If your annual household income is less than R122000 per annum and you must be a registered university student.
  • To avail the funding of NSFAS to study at any of TVET College for qualification, you must be done with your class 9 and 10.
  • If you are opting for the funds of NSFAS to study at a university, make sure that you have passed the class 12.

Who are not eligible for this scheme?

There are certain people who are not considered eligible for this scheme. List of those people are:

  • Students who are done with previous qualifications.
  • Any students, who have the combined family income more than R350000 per annum, are not considered eligible for this post.
  • Any of the students who have already applied, qualified or received funding, cannot go for the scheme again.
  • No foreign students can apply for this scheme as it is only meant for South African Students.
